Reportage: Junge Männer wählen rechts, junge Frauen links? So gespalten ist die Gen Z

A political rift is tearing through Generation Z. While young people in Germany were once considered left-leaning and progressive, the situation is quite different today. The youth are drifting apart, increasingly towards the extremes. The dividing line: gender. Several studies from last year indicate that young men are becoming increasingly right-wing, while young women are becoming increasingly left-wing. Cologne-based sociologist Ansgar Hudde calls this difference the “Modern Gender Gap.” We spoke with him about this phenomenon. In search of the reasons for the Modern Gender Gap, RTL reporter Chiara Pas traveled across Germany to talk to various people under 30 about it. Is the growing equality between men and women in Germany perhaps to blame? Or is the divide between young people actually between urban and rural life? And: Can Generation Z still talk to each other despite their differing political views? Chiara Pas goes in search of answers between Kiel and Munich, Erfurt and Berlin.
