Sabre sparring march 2025 British military swordsmanship (or at least something in that direction)
Spring is here and Sundays we spar. New fencers making progress. I broke my custom nylon Sabre last practice so waiting for a new one, in the mean time I use one of the clubs old 1796 infantry from black fencer in Spain. Steel feels much better off course, but it wears fast doing Sabre. So we also use nylons, weight and balance is like steel, they bounce a bit more and maybe the slide more as well. But they will last. That custom I broke is my first one since starting use them in 2016.
