Blizzard hat Angst vor euch

Blizzard has been telling us for years that the world is in danger. Xal'atath threatens the cosmic fabric. The Void is devouring everything. And yet, no one dies. In this video, I take a chronological journey through the entire Warcraft saga, from Warcraft 1 in 1994 to the current Midnight patch. I examine each expansion closely: How bold was Blizzard with its narrative consequences? What was truly sacrificed? And when did that boldness end? My thesis: Blizzard is too afraid of upsetting fans with real losses. And that damages the narrative, especially as the threats we're told about keep growing. We'll talk about the cleansing of Stratholme, the fall of Lordaeron, the Wrathgate, the burning of Teldrassil, the deaths of Varian Wrynn and Vol'jin. And we'll discuss what Blizzard did with these events in Shadowlands, Dragonflight, The War Within, and Midnight. Or rather, didn't do. This isn't a rant. It's an essay. And a love letter to a world that has held me captive for years.
