Ivrea experienced one of the most anticipated days of the San Savino celebrations. On Sunday, July 5th, Dora Baltea Park hosted the Secular Horse Fair, attracting breeders, families, enthusiasts, and the curious to its stables, enclosures, stands, and horses from various regions of Northern Italy. From ponies to stallions, from vintage carriages to historic carriages, the fair once again showcased the profound connection between Ivrea and the equestrian world. 📍 "Along with the Carnival, horses represent an essential part of Ivrea's identity," explained Massimo Nicolotti of the Eporedia 2004 association, recalling the event's centuries-old roots. Children were also among the day's protagonists, fascinated by the ponies, stables, and animals carefully prepared by the breeders. In the afternoon, the celebration moved to the historic center with the Bridle Parade: the horses rode along Via Dora Baltea, Porta Torino, Borghetto, Via Arduino, and Via Palestro to Piazza Rondolino, accompanied by the sound of Scottish bagpipes. The awards ceremony for the winning horses and Best in Show were then held in Piazza Rondolino, attended by Mayor Matteo Chiantore and President of the Piedmont Regional Council Davide Nicco. The day concluded with the Grand Equestrian Gala and the performance by Giona Show – The Lords of the Horses, featuring high school, acrobatics, Cossack vaulting, and Hungarian post.
