Bill Nye “The Science Guy:” Evolution and the Science of Creation
Bill Nye is a mechanical engineer, science educator and CEO of the Planetary Society, who hosted the Emmy award-winning show "Bill Nye the Science Guy." After a widely viewed debate in Kentucky with an avowed Bible literalist, Nye has written a primer on the fundamentals of evolution. Nye agrees that "people everywhere must be free to believe whatever they wish, but we cannot deny our students a basic science education. In the 21st century, we need to keep the United States competitive on the world stage," he says, "and to insist that creationism has a place in the science classroom is harmful not only to our kids, but to the greater world as well."
