When the US Treasury blacklisted my local Mexican bank for alleged money laundering, I suddenly lost the ability to make domestic wire transfers through my the New York bank partner. This unexpected situation disabled my ability to send domestic wire transfers—leaving me scrambling for solutions! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How international bank wires to Mexico normally work (what’s required) Mexican bank accounts use an 18-digit CLABE as the account identifier for both domestic and many international incoming transfers — you must give this for a direct bank deposit. US/foreign banks usually also ask for the recipient bank’s SWIFT/BIC, the bank name/address, and the beneficiary full name. If you send USD the receiving bank will convert to MXN (or you can send MXN if your sender supports it).
