He was trained by his legendary brother duo, Bhai Dilbagh Singh Gulbagh Singh, and with whom he performed around the world for over 2 decades. He also studied with Paṅḍit Balvīr Sēth before becoming a disciple of Patiālā Gharana doyens, Ustād Fateh Ali and Ustād Amanat Ali.
