❤️ We Never Thought We’d See This Day… When Dawn-louise was diagnosed with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), we were told she had around a 20% chance of surviving her first week of life. After four open-heart surgeries, eight cardiac catheter procedures, and a childhood spent in and out of hospital, today marks the beginning of a chapter we once feared we might never experience… 🏫 College. I’m Jade-Marie, a former teen mum, and together with my daughter, Dawn-louise, we share the reality of life with half a heart. Dawn-louise lives with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS), one of the most complex congenital heart defects. Our channel follows the highs, lows and everything in between as we navigate hospital appointments, everyday life, disability, accessible adventures and life’s biggest milestones. Our aim is to raise awareness of congenital heart disease, challenge misconceptions around invisible disabilities, and show that even with significant health challenges, life can still be full of adventure. Our Linktree also includes a fundraising page to help Dawn-louise obtain an electric wheelchair. Due to her heart condition, she has very limited walking tolerance and experiences significant fatigue and breathlessness. An electric wheelchair would help preserve her energy, increase her independence and make days out much more accessible.
