Sometimes it goes so far off-standard that the drawing doesn't even resemble the reference D: But know that there are some techniques and tips to draw better that make your life MUCH easier. The first one certainly has to do with your ability to find what I call the "Invisible Relationships" of the drawing. These are invisible alignment lines in different parts of a figure that help you build and draw your characters better. This is part of the "Visual Ruler," a fundamental skill for artists to be able to faithfully draw the reference they are using. The more you practice this skill, the easier it will be to draw, and consequently, the better your drawings will be. Another tip for drawing well is through Iterative Drawing. Make several versions of the same drawing, always making constant improvements until you reach an ideal version. With each version, identify the errors in your drawing and correct them little by little in each new iteration. Over time, this will help you draw much better on paper or digitally. A third valuable tip is not to lose sight of the reference. Many people end up forgetting the reference and end up with a drawing very different from that image. And when that happens, the chance of arriving at a satisfactory drawing is not very high.
