Crossing the Avalon Wilderness Reserve of Newfoundland: The Call of the Loon (Canoeing)
Check out my new survival series! Man & Dog Episode #1: • 68 Days Across Newfoundland Wild: EP.1 Man... Man & Dog Episode #2: • 68 Days Across Newfoundland Wild: EP.2 Man... Video description: This is the story of my approximate 120 km hiking and canoeing trip across Newfoundland's rugged Avalon Peninsula in July 2015. It was also my first attempt at documenting my expeditions. I left from Trepassey in the south, scaled up the Northwest River, and moved through the reserve finishing at Peak Pond on the Salmonier Line. This was a great journey that can be completed by anyone who has moderate skills in the backcountry. Even just doing the canoe route from Mt.Carmel or Cape Pond (alternate starting points) to Peak Pond is a very unique wilderness experience so close to our capital city St. John's.
