4K - Brand New Siemens Charger (SC-44) Locomotives on the Pacific Surfliner!

In mid October 2018, brand new Siemens Charger (SC-44) Locomotives were officially entered into service on the Pacific Surfliner route, between Los Angeles and San Diego. Built by Siemens Mobility in Sacramento, California, the first of 16 total units have been seen running on point for the first time this week. These units are designated to be replacements for the EMD F59PHI locomotives, which have been sold to Chicago's Metra service. So far, only CDTX 2110 and 2109 have been running exclusively on the 564/573 rotation. CDTX 2114 and 2111 have also been seen running on trains 562/569, as test units in the trailing position. As the weeks progress, more Chargers will be entered into service and seen on point. Therefore, the chances of seeing F59PHI locomotives go down as the weeks progress. In this video, you will see the first revenue run of the Charger locomotives during the past 2 weeks from around San Diego County.
