Abuse survivor David Byrne talks about maintaining his brother Mark's legacy and protecting other survivors of abuse by members of religious orders. Ten months ago, 62-year-old sex-abuse survivor and campaigner Mark Ryan suffered a sudden stroke and died at his home in London. His younger brother David has been bereft ever since. Their bond went deeper than that of most siblings. They sparked a reckoning when they came forward two years ago about the sexual abuse they suffered at south Dublin’s Blackrock College campus. Since they spoke out, close to 300 other victims have come forward reporting sexual abuse by clergy and lay-people at Spiritan-run private schools, predominately Blackrock College and its adjoining primary school, Willow Park.
