This video features Mary Dobson, MA, BA, AEA, an adult born with Spina Bifida–Myelomeningocele and a recent survivor of stage 4 metastatic bladder cancer, alongside Jonathan Routh, MD, pediatric urologist and health services researcher at Duke University. Together, they discuss diagnosing and treating bladder cancer in adults with Spina Bifida, the unique risks faced by this community, and the benefits and limitations of current screening approaches. Requested by adults with Spina Bifida and designed for caregivers, advocates, and clinicians, the session blends Mary’s lived experience with Dr. Routh’s clinical expertise to offer a clear, grounded look at risk factors, treatment options, and informed decision‑making around screening.
