António Castel-Branco, president of the National Council of Schools, spoke on NOW about the Ministry of Education extending the deadline for correcting national exams by twelve hours, in an attempt to resolve technical problems arising from the transition to the new digital grading system. The measure aims to ensure that all exams are rigorously assessed and that results are posted on schedule, minimizing potential errors that could harm students' access to higher education, he argued. The Portuguese exam has been the one that has experienced the most complications throughout the entire process, requiring extra attention from teachers. Despite the workload and the late release of some grading criteria, teachers remain committed to equity and fairness in assessment. The digitization of the process is seen as a necessary step forward that will bring greater transparency in the future, although it currently requires a reinforcement of the technological infrastructure in schools. To safeguard against any failures, the exam review system has been adjusted. This year, the process will be free and entirely digital, allowing any student to access their exam without cost or travel.
