The Christchurch Rail Scene (ft. DC 4375) ~ April 2026 (HD)

Here is the footage of regular (as in, non-DM) KiwiRail activity that I filmed on this latest trip to Christchurch. The main purpose of this trip was to film the classic 'DX' class diesel locomotives (built by General Electric in 1970s) one more time before they start getting shipped off to South Africa. Things to look out for in this video include (but are not limited to): DXC 5327 in charge of the world-famous TranzAlpine tourist train DXRs 8007 and 8022 (the only two examples of the 'DXR' class ever created) working together DC 4012 and DXC 5520 on the Lyttelton 'coal dumps' DSC 2652 - an old shunter still in Tranz Rail blue - shunting the TranzAlpine coaches Steam Incorporated's recently-restored DC 4375 with the Mainlander train (Something I forgot to add in the closing statements of this video): Although I'm somewhat bitter over not getting to film DC 4375's departure from Christchurch, even I realise that what little footage I did manage to record was still better than not seeing DC 4375 at all. #newzealand #christchurchnz #railway #trainspotting #kiwirail #train #newzealandtourism #newzealandlife
