The PCE, the Communist Party of Spain, was legalized 40 years ago. This report reviews that historic moment in the Spanish transition and the events that preceded it, featuring the recollections of Andalusian communist leaders and the then Minister of the Interior. The report includes interviews with PCE leaders Ernesto Caballero, Eduardo Saborido, Paula Garvín, and Rodolfo Martín Villa, who served as Minister of the Interior in 1977. It also includes excerpts from an April 2007 interview with the historic General Secretary of the PCE, Santiago Carrillo.
