Mumbai Metro 4 & 4A Trial Run Begins: CM Fadnavis Promises Major Traffic Relief in Thane FPJ On Ground brings you the latest from Thane as Mumbai Metro Line 4 & 4A (Green Line) begins its trial run. The much-awaited metro corridor, spanning 35.2 km with 32 elevated stations, promises to ease traffic congestion between Thane and Mumbai, cutting travel time by up to 75%. Phase-1 covers the Gaimukh–Cadbury Junction stretch with 10 stations, of which 4 will be ready by December 2025. The entire Green Line is expected to be completed by 2027, and the 58 km elevated corridor will become India’s longest metro route, serving over 13 lakh daily passengers. The BEML 6-coach trains will feature modern train control and management systems, obstacle detection, energy-saving brakes, emergency exit doors, and on-board passenger information systems. Technical inspections and trial runs on the Phase-1 priority section from Gaimukh Junction to Vijay Garden have been completed successfully. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said all metro phases are expected to open for passengers by the end of 2026, while Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the project’s key role in easing Thane traffic.
