Frankie Knuckles Interview - Part 2
The latest episode of FACT centres around Frankie Knuckles, the Godfather of house music. Knuckles has been a part of dance music's DNA since the late '70s, DJing disco and soul with Larry Levan in New York. His sets at Chicago's Warehouse club around the turn of the '80s helped define many people's definition of house music, and Jamie Principle's 'Your Love', a constant highlight of Knuckles' sets from the Warehouse (and later repolished and re-released under Knuckles' name), became one of house music's all-time definitive singles, inspiring artists to this day (Animal Collective borrowed the lead arpeggio for 'My Girls'). Recently in London to lecture alongside James Murphy for the Red Bull Music Academy, FACT caught up with Knuckles at Red Bull's South London studio for a two-part interview on inspiration, Philadelphia as a music mecca, and the importance of reading the liner notes. This is part two. Filmed by Anoushka Seigler and Kamil Dymek, interview by Anoushka Seigler.
