Excerpt of "Coloquio en la Reja" played on Granados' own Pleyel piano. This beautiful Pleyel piano belonged to Granados himself and despite its many years behind it is well maintained and in a good condition. Its lightness of touch allows for a special layering and balance of the many notes of Goyescas, playing them in a different way than one would do in a modern piano. This piano was a gift of the Salle Pleyel to Granados with occasion of his premiere of the second book of Goyescas in 1914 at the same Salle Pleyel in Paris. Pleyel pianos obtained great prestige during the 19th century and to mid 20th century because of its delicacy and quality of sound. This piano has been at the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Barcelona since 2008.
