Ware groups), but it's a pleasant surprise to see him invite James Brandon Lewis, a high-energy, wailing sax player who reminds us of Gato Barbieri and Sonny Rollins. Somewhat loud-mouthed, like something that would fit into Charlie Haden's militant lineage, the music grabs you in the guts by combining the rhythmic pulsation of the blues with free-music vibes. In addition to the saxophonist’s incendiary dimension, we will also note the unity of thought between William Parker's swing and Hamid Drake's mind-boggling playing, as well as appreciating Cooper Moore's contributions on the organ. Its tiny electronic keyboard, which looks like a mixer with all those buttons, sounds strangely like a Hammond B3 organ at a smart tempo.
