María de los Ángeles Ossorio: "La esperanza se compromete con el dolor del mundo y busca aliviarlo."

María de los Ángeles Ossorio, a biologist from the Catholic University of Chile and former coordinator of the Rostros (Faces) project, shared her life story, marked by hope and her experience in pastoral projects. In her account, she recalled an experience that marked her time volunteering with people experiencing homelessness: "That moment taught me that true hope is committed to the suffering of others and seeks to alleviate it." In her testimony, she emphasized that hope is not naiveté, but an active commitment: "Pope Francis said it in 2016: to hope is to commit to the suffering of others. True hope is committed to the pain of the world and seeks to alleviate it. You cannot speak of hope with dry eyes." The experience narrated by Ángeles was deeply challenging for the attendees, because it showed how faith translates into concrete actions and gestures of love.
