Vietnam 2023 - Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

We traveled to Nha Trang via Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh city. Flights CVG - ORD. United. $365 total ORD - DOH - BKK. Qatar business. 190k Avios + $415 total BKK - SGN - CXR. Vietnam Airlines CXR - DMK. Fine Hotels and Resorts credit + additional $89 Six Senses Ninh Van Bay - 225K for 4 nights Kimpton Bangkok - Chase IHG free night cert Notes: Vietnam Visa - apply online in advance Six Senses Ninh Van Bay was a special experience. It's so much more than just a hotel/resort. Unfortunately, IHG points are now dynamic, which means this was one of those rare once in a life time experiences. Grab rate does not include tolls when traveling from BKK to the city. We were charged 50 Thai Baht cash in addition to the amount on the app charged to our credit card. Not a big deal, but something to be prepared for. Our long QR flight was not Qsuites due to an equipment swap. The hard product was bad, but as always the service was awesome. Thai Airways hard and soft products were excellent. At the other end of the spectrum is United Polaris. The seat/bed was extremely comfortable, but the service was cringe worthy. United doesn't even try to be competitive with the rest of the world. Recently, I've heard they're trying to improve. I'll believe it when I see it. Air Asia will weigh ALL of your items your carrying on to the plane. The cumulative weight must be under 7 kg. We were over by over by about 2 kg and this cost us $40. Do your self a favor and purchase bags in advance if you think you'll be close to the limit. All in all Air Asia was just fine. Vietnam Airlines was impressive. For example, even on our short flights we got a little meal. DOH airport might be the best airport in world. Between the lounges, and now they've got this whole green house thing going on in one of the terminals. It's impressive.
