I suspected that this had caused the fuel tank and fuel pipes above the duct to overheat, raising the temperature of the kerosene and preventing it from burning properly. I reconnected the duct and tried running it, and it worked without any problems, so this time I drove to a roadside station with less snow to camp in my car and run the FF heater overnight to see if any errors occurred.
