My New Favorite Wildwater Run: North Fork of the South Branch Potomac River - Hopeville Canyon

For me, Hopeville Canyon on the North Fork of the South Branch Potomac River is everything wildwater canoeing is all about. At the surface level, wildwater canoeing is simply about getting from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible, but it is so much more than that. It is about doing so with boats that make otherwise straightforward sections of whitewater challenging. It is about doing so in some of the world's most beautiful places, places where the scenery puts the wild in wildwater. Maybe I am conjuring up some nonsense, but that changes nothing from the fact that this is my new favorite wildwater run by quite some distance. Flow: 1300 cfs at Cabins, WV Length: Approximately 4.42 miles (7120m)
