Claudio surrounds himself with talented people, produces quality videos, and launches a viral Facebook post at least once a month. Tourette syndrome (or Gilles de la Tourette syndrome) is a neurological disorder that begins in childhood and often disappears during adolescence. It is characterized by the presence of inconstant motor and phonatory tics, sometimes fleeting and other times chronic, whose severity can range from extremely mild to disabling. Many patients have comorbidities (diagnoses of co-occurring conditions other than Tourette syndrome), such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). These other conditions are often secondary to a worsening of the patient's clinical condition, and therefore it is crucial to correctly identify and treat them. The syndrome is named after the French neurologist Georges Gilles de la Tourette, who described it in the 19th century, although it had already been identified and classified since the 17th century; in reality, the syndrome was barely considered until a few decades after the end of the 20th century. The term "Tourette syndrome" does not identify a specific disease or neurological disorder, but rather a behavioral pattern characterized by various manifestations (including psychological ones) that are present in other syndromes: different neurophysiological factors can, in fact, lead to the same manifestations.
