Racism in the NHS | Documentary screening and panel discussion
This video was recorded as part of the School of Medicine's Black History Month event. This inlcuded a live screening of the 'Racism in the NHS' short film that was made by two of our recently-graduated doctors, Dr Hashvi Shah & Dr Alysha Harun, during their 5th year electives. The film features a number of Doctors and medical students describing their experiences of racism with the NHS, and considers efforts made to tackle this. This video went viral and has had over 120,000 views since its release in July. Following the screening there was a panel Q+A discussion considering the making of the film and discussing ways we can tackle racism within NHS and medical training. The panel featured Hasha and Alysha, as well as: Ramat Ayoola (Chair of the Midlands Racial Equality in Medicine Network) Miss Evelyn Mensah (Clinical Lead for Ophthalmology & WRES Expert at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust) Dr Nadeem Moghal (Chief Innovation Officer at Strasys) Dr Neena Bodasing (Lead for the School Differential Awarding and Raising Concerns of Discrimination committees) Prof Peter Coventry (Deputy Head of School) . The session was chaired by Dr Eva Luksaite (Lead for the School Decolonising the Curriculum working group) ---- Subscribe - http://bit.ly/KeeleSub Instagram - http://bit.ly/KeeleInsta Twitter - http://bit.ly/KeeleTwitter Facebook - http://bit.ly/KeeleFB Website - http://bit.ly/KeeleWeb
