A good day with CN!

A thick soupy fog enveloped me as I made my way to L'Anse and then on to Herman to hopefully catch the local Canadian National. I had visions of catching the CN emerging from the fog and then disappearing again into another fog bank as it slowly made it's way down L'Anse Hill. But just after I crested the top of Herman Hill the fog lifted and revealed how much water the rain had left during the night. Dault's Creek was overflowing and there were three CN trucks waiting at the old DSS&A Boarding House. I thought they might be there to do damage control should the train have trouble with flooded tracks but it turns out they were there to inspect and repair any bridges that were in need. It didn't take long for CN to round the curve from Summit and we were off! I caught them in L'Anse, Herman again, Nestoria, and a new spot on the Spurr River. The tracks in Nestoria were once part of the DSS&A mainline and on the North side I view the old car and scale that was sold to ELS-Escanaba,Lake Superior and have not been used in many years as you can see by the tree growth on the tracks. It was a great day with the last catch being on the Spurr River where in 1939 the 704 plunged into the muddy waters of the Spurr River, killing the engineer and the fireman.
