Mid-Autumn Festival-Huong Dao Theravada Temple (Fort Worth, Texas)
Mid-Autumn Festival (In Vietnamese: Tết Trung Thu) is usually a time for family members to gather and share news, enjoying the company of each other while drinking tea and eating mooncakes. These mooncakes usually have an egg yolk or two in them, along with savory fillings like Chinese sausage, pork or sweet fillings like lotus paste, nuts, etc...It's on a full moon and usually the mark of the harvesting season in East and Southeast Asia. Lastly, unlike the Lunar New Year that usually happens around February and feature red envelopes with cash inside for children, for this festival children get small lanterns in the shape of the zodiac animals to walk around the village and be merry.
