PS3 Hardware Checker (Anti-Piracy/Anti-Modification Check)

The only high-quality RIP of this I could find; most of the other ones were incredibly low-quality, and surprisingly, it was in 1080p HD (this one says 1080i). This is allegedly the PlayStation 3's built-in anti-modification software that SCEA used to combat modchipping and BIOS flashing; basically, to deter pirates. If the system detects irregular BIOS data, the system goes into "Hardware Checker" mode and literally forces you to go through the steps of selecting your model and selecting your modifications before the system can run the full scan, as you have to sign a Terms of Service agreement, which legally requires you to go through this process, with the risk of your PS3 being permanently disabled should you interfere with the process; in sense, breaking the agreement. The program was used to combat piracy and illegal hardware modifications, and this was a huge step in Sony's plans to stop the PS3 homebrewing and jailbreaking scene. If modifications are detected, the program will inform you on its "Results" page, with the system sending the data off to Sony's servers and then restarting automatically into its normal bootup routine... right up until it switches to a never-before-seen Red Screen of Death specifically created for when the console detects 'unauthorized hardware modifications'. Sony's efforts to stop people from modifying their consoles kicked off heavy in the late 2000s and the 2010s, and this was one of their major endeavors in doing that. This recording was sent to me on a burned DVD-R disc was dated sometime in September of 2009, a little bit after the PS3 Slim actually launched, but the exact date is unknown - only the month and year were included on it. NOTE: First off, this is not real, this is actually a sort-of remake of the PS2 Hardware Checker videos I made back in the day - same premise, just the next PlayStation in the lineage after the PS2. And also, yes, that Terms of Service agreement is also entirely fake; in fact, I painstakingly made it myself. It was so incredibly hard to work on, but I got it done. And I'm proud of myself for doing that. And also, the Red Screen? I also made that myself as well. In fact, pretty much all of this except for the sound effects (they're actual PS3 BIOS sounds) and the actual PS3 BIOS footage itself are made entirely from scratch by me. It's true!
