Nobody calling the GT86 “raw” knows what raw is

The GT86 has one of the strongest reputations of any modern enthusiast car. People talk about it like it’s raw, analogue and full of feel. Like it’s one of the last modern cars that still gets it. I don’t agree. In this episode of Steering Feel Review, I take a Toyota GT86 out on real roads to find out whether the hype actually holds up. I break down how the car feels during spirited driving and normal everyday use, looking at steering feel, feedback, weighting and whether the car genuinely communicates with you when you start to push it. The result was not what I expected. The GT86 isn’t a bad car. In fact, it’s pretty good. But “raw” is not the word I’d use. For a car with this reputation, I expected a lot more honesty, texture and involvement through the steering than it actually delivered. This video is about separating internet mythology from what the car really feels like behind the wheel. If you care about steering feel, driver engagement and whether the GT86 actually deserves its reputation, this one’s worth watching.
