After the success of their first Amogla Records release, “Mean Blues” they began to travel far and wide, bringing along their veteran bass player Brad Vickers (Pinetop Perkins/Jimmy Rogers/Hubert Sumlin), playing in Mississippi juke joints and many blues festivals around the world. Over their twelve year career as a band they recorded several blues chart topping albums and included such members as legendary Mississippi blues drummer Sam Carr (Sonny Boy Williamson/Buddy Guy/Eric Clapton). Their songs have been covered by many artists, including Southern California blues rocker Walter Trout (John Mayall/ Canned Heat). They composed and performed the title song in the first of the "Playing For Change" series (2002). The award winning documentary, “Full Moon Lightnin’”, by John C. Gardiner spotlighted the band at the height of their career and was included on the Mississippi Blues Trail historical marker in Merigold Mississippi. Due to health related issues, Floyd Lee could no longer record or perform shows after 2013, up until his passing in 2020 at the age of eighty six. • Floyd Lee - Mean Blues - Complete Album (O... • Floyd Lee & His Mean Blues Band - Full Moo... • Floyd Lee Band - Doctors, Devils & Drugs -...
