Sydney Has a New Chinatown… Is It Worth It?

Sydney has many Chinatowns. For Chinese New Year, I’m visiting three to see which one brings the biggest vibe. In this first episode, I head to Burwood Chinatown to experience the atmosphere, explore the streets, and try a few festive bites. From sizzling lamb skewers to a crispy fried chicken cutlet with sour plum drink, and finishing with mango pancakes, Burwood brings serious night-market energy. I even make a quick detour into a grocery store packed with imported Japanese snacks and drinks. But this is just the beginning. Next stop: Eastwood. And finally… Haymarket, Sydney’s most famous Chinatown. Which one will have the best Chinese New Year vibe?
