Teaching by-Guru Prof. Dr. Mysore Nagamani Srinath Chakkani Raja (Vilamba Kala Kriti) Teaching and Chorus singing Raga – Kharaharapriya Tala – Adi Composer : Sri Tyagarajaru Prof.Dr Nagamani Srinath has served in the field of Art for over the past five decades as concert artist, Teacher, composer, Author, Director, producer and organizer. Awards, Titles and Citations –Gold medals for academic excellence, Titles, Awards , Appreciation, Citations and laurels have followed throughout her career for her outstanding contributions and they include Central and State Government Awards 1. Best Teacher Award– Dept. of Collegiate Education, Karnataka Govt. -2003 Other Prestigious National Level Awards - Chowdiah National Award – 2010, Sangeeta kalacharya –Madras music Academy, -2015, Sambhrama Puraskar – Governor of Karnataka – 2010, Sri Vyasa Prashasthi –Udupi Matt , Nirman Purandara Sangeetha Ratna– 2017 Performance : She is an internationally reputed musician, who started performing solo concerts at a very young age and belong to an elite group of artists. She has performed all across India and abroad including USA, Canada, UK, UAE, Singapore, Australia, Malaysia and many more countries and have chaired and performed at numerous prestigious conferences, festivals. They include the SAARC, ICCR, National Sangeeta Sammelan in AIR and Doordarshan, Spic macay series, Mysore palace, Raj Bhavan (Karnataka governor’s residence ) and many more. Profession : She served as Professor and head of the department of music in Karnataka govt. Maharanis college and universities for over 40 years and as an academician she mentored and continue to train the next generation of artists by conducting lecture demonstrations, workshops in India and abroad for the Indian Diaspora living in the far corners of the world. As a composer her compositions have been regarded by musicians as exceptionally fine literary and musical works. Further more. She has authored many books and have directed many theme based Sangeeta-Nritya-Natakas and tele–serials, which have been telecast by Doordarshan. Her Contribution to society, through her brain child Sunaada Cultural Centre, which was started in 1983 with the aim of teaching Carnatic music, One of the core missions of this centre is to impart music lessons to aspiring students in the traditional Gurukula style from basic to masters. The teaching activities of this centre not only caters to the needs of advanced students it also has lessons which initiates beginners into music. The centre also conducts activities to propagate the Indian Art and culture to the younger generation. In this centre the students stay with the teacher as they collectively embark on a journey in pursuit of knowledge. We the students are truly a “Blessed lot”. Another major accomplishment of her which is an ongoing project, is the vast set of Carnatic Music lessons CD's and DVD's (called sangeetha saadhane and Gurukula audio visual presentation) recorded by her at Sunaada cultural center. Here, the audio visual experience takes students and listeners on an exotic journey through the finer aspects of carnatic music from basic to masters in a typical Gurukula style. These DVDs and CDs are helpful to the students to observe and learn from a Guru as if one were in close proximity to the guru. More than 500 hours of teaching recordings have been released.
