In those cases, I try temporarily stocking the bottles with matcha or EBIOS, and do whatever I can to keep them growing. Rotate two bottles while you're still getting used to it. You may reduce the amount more than expected and not see any growth the next day, but I think they'll grow in two days. If you rotate two bottles on a daily basis, I think you'll have fewer failures, even if you're not used to it.
