Fire from Scratch with a Swiss Army Knife
Starting a fire in wet conditions with just a small pocket knife. Making fire in the rainy Pacific Northwest can be very difficult, even with modern ignition devices and petroleum based tinders. However, there is always dry material if you know where to look. A large cutting tool like an axe, hatchet, machete, or a sturdy knife makes things so much easier to access, but with some patience and local knowledge, even a small folding knife can get the job done.
