Carlos Fuentes was born on November 11, 1928, in Panama, while his father was serving as a diplomat in that country. He settled in Mexico with his family, where he completed high school at the Colegio México. Already in his early college years, he began publishing his first short stories and political texts. Fuentes's extensive body of work includes novels, short stories, plays, and essays. He is the author of emblematic works such as Terra Nostra (1975) and La Muerte de Artemio Cruz (1962), which is considered his most famous story.
