When people visit Thailand, they almost always head to the famous beaches of southern Thailand for an island getaway. However, this Thai island is truly a hidden gem! A stunning island located in the Gulf of Thailand, Koh Samet is renowned for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters and vibrant marine life. The island is easily accessible from Bangkok, with buses and taxis connecting the city to the coastal town of Ban Phe, where ferries depart for Koh Samet. Interestingly, tourists were not allowed to stay overnight on Koh Samet until 1981. This means the island hasn't yet been completely overrun by tourism. In fact, much of the island remains inhabited.
