Il monastero di Monte Oliveto maggiore (SIlvio Gigli, 1954)

In the province of Siena, in 1319, Giovanni Berardo dei Tolomei founded the famous Benedictine Abbey, which oversees many Italian monasteries. The Gothic-style church, with Baroque remodeling, dates back to 1417. Painters Luca Signorelli and G.A. Bazzi painted episodes from the life of St. Benedict there around the 16th century.
