In the heart of the northern Portuguese mountains, we visited the incredible Sanctuary of Our Lady of Peneda — a true hidden treasure in the Serra da Peneda. 🇵🇹 This place impresses from the moment you arrive: a huge monumental staircase with about 300 steps, flanked by small chapels, transforms the climb into an almost symbolic pilgrimage experience. With each landing, the view widens and the feeling of peace increases. At the top, the sanctuary appears integrated into the mountain, as if sculpted by nature itself. A setting that blends faith, history, and an almost unreal beauty — one of those places that seem far from everything, but remain etched in memory forever. ✨ Fun fact: the sanctuary's origin is associated with an ancient legend of an apparition of Our Lady to a young shepherdess, which made this place an important pilgrimage site throughout the centuries.
