CASTELGRANDE, ITALIA
Castelgrande is an Italian town of 810 inhabitants in the province of Potenza in Basilicata. Perched on a spike of rock, it dates back to around the year 1000, although traces of human settlements throughout the territory are older. The inhabited area rose around a castle, probably of Lombard origin, which was destroyed due to earthquakes, surrounded by the green of the woods. Perched at 950 m a.s.l. it is located in the north-western part of the province on the border with the north-eastern part of the province of Salerno. It borders the municipalities of: Muro Lucano and Pescopagano (11 km), Rapone (12 km), Laviano (SA) (14 km) and San Fele (20 km).
