Mr. Panya Tulyasuk, also known as Bang Ya, a 50-year-old man from Krabi province, had worked in many jobs before — in construction, restaurants, hotels, and even as a security guard — but he had no experience with snakes whatsoever. His life changed dramatically when his friend, a professional snake performer, passed away after being bitten by a snake. Bang Ya suddenly found himself responsible for both his mother’s land title deed and the scheduled snake performance. With no other option, he decided to train himself in just two days before the show, working with both cobras and king cobras until he felt confident enough to perform safely. Bang Ya began performing at Ao Nang, Krabi, at the Krabi Snake Park, where he now works with various types of snakes — including cobras, pythons, golden tree snakes, and the show’s highlight: the king cobra. Beyond performing, he also helps local villagers catch snakes without expecting anything in return. The income from the snake shows allows him to support himself and gradually repay the debts tied to the land deed.
