A lecture by Professor Karen Kilby, Bede Professor of Catholic Theology at Durham University, on: Trinity, mystery, and the search for understanding: reflections on the place of the intellect in the life of faith The lecture will explore the relationship of the life of faith to the life of the mind through a reflection on Trinitarian theology. How can the complex technicalities of the doctrine (Persons, substance, processions, relations, missions) possibly relate to the simplicity of faith? How, from the other side, can the appeal to mystery we often hear in connection with the Trinity be understood as anything other than a form of anti-intellectualism?
