Federal Signal 3T22A - Siren Test (Blocked Intake) | 6 Min. Alert | Melcher-Dallas, IA - 4/6/22

(Filmed on 4/6/22). For the First Marion County test of 2022, I settled on documenting this blocked intake 3T22 after hearing it in one of my ambiences. And plus blocked intake 3T22's is something you do not get to see everyday. This Wednesday I was rather cautious about as they were calling for rain that day. However it did not rain until later in the afternoon which made it nice. Although I was unaware of just how windy it would be that day. Sorry for some of the camera movement. (I actually had to use my car to block the wind since it was coming out of the northwest). Luckily it was out of the way when a city worker was passing by to make sure the siren was operating. Marion County activated at 10:00 on the dot. And knowing that SOME of Melcher-Dallas' went off for longer than 3 minutes, I knew that this one was going to be the case. This went on to go for 6 minutes, while the one siren in downtown (now gone), went off for 5 minutes. I noticed that Marion County activated Melcher twice. I wonder if there system was screwed up or something, and maybe that also contributed to it going for so long. This siren was rather quieter than I thought like usual, but there were sometimes I had to slip on my hearing protection for a second. The wind made the echo absolutely epic. As if it were it was sounding like for the real thing. You can even see the siren moving around on the pole in the wind. Despite the wind, if you listen closely, you can hear the Eclipse 8 up the road. As it's literally less than a quarter mile away from this thing. Still a great test regardless! I did mention to the city council about the blocked intake, and they did mention that they have been notified it of the past, and that the water treatment facility smell may be a contributing factor. But as of now with the new 2001-130 installed up town and the Eclipse 8 down the road, I don't really see that repair necessary. However though, they did mention that this siren will remain up until it becomes non functional, and will then be removed. And a replacement will not occur as the 2 current sirens cover the whole town.
