Hello everybody, today I’m going to introduce you the BRUSH FLY BIG HEAD, the perfect fly for Giant Trevally (GT). The main colours are: Black and purple, black and red, full tan. Its main feature is the dark colour that stands out in the gin clear water of the Maldives, destination of my last trip, making it very visible in the water. Another feature is that the bucktail, being under the Brush, does not allow fibers to close while stripping, so it keeps the head very big simulating a fish! Voce del tuo amico: “What a fish!” (non scrivo “che cazzo ho preso”) “It’s a dream!” Another litle trick I’ve used tying this fly is a 0,70-0,80 small nylon support, which prevents the tail fibers from getting stuck in the hook. Here’s the fly! Looking for Giant Trevally in the flats requires a lot of patience, in fact we need at least 30-40 minutes to meet them! But in the meantime we usually meet other smaller trevally such as Bluefin. We’ve tried to cast these big flies, length of at least of 15 cm, stripping them very quickly, but we only got chases! Only the GT have the big size and voracity to attack these huge flies! in fact the small trevally we met were all between 2 and 5 kg, while the GT ranged from a minimum of 7/8 kg up to 35 kg.
