How to Use Edit Detection in Final Cut Pro - Final Cut Fast

Edit Detection in Final Cut Pro Edit Detection analyzes previously rendered, flattened video clips to automatically find original cut points and split them into individual timeline clips. This is ideal when you need to edit a final video but do not have the original project files. Best Used For: • Re-editing & Reframing: Easily adjust aspect ratios on finished exports. • Color Grading: Split a single video file into individual shots for consistent grading. • Client Deliverables: Work directly on flat, final files. • Note: This feature detects hard cuts, not fades. How to Use Edit Detection: 1 Select one or more rendered video clips in your timeline. 2 Choose Trim - Detect Edits. Alternatively, Control-click the selection and choose Detect Edits. Final Cut Pro will split the video. Dotted lines in the timeline indicate "through edits" (where the footage was originally continuous). Managing Through Edits & Limitations: • To rejoin clips: Select the through edit point (or the clips on either side) and press Delete, or go to Trim - Join Clips. • Unsupported Media: Edit Detection does not support titles, graphics, generators, standalone audio, still images, or gap clips. Note: You also do not have the original clip’s media handles to work with when using this feature. #FinalCutPro #FCP #FCPX #VideoEditing #VideoEditor #EditingTips #PostProduction #Filmmaker #ContentCreator #VideoProduction #EditorLife #Filmmaking #VideoCreator #CreativeFlow #PostProductionTips#VideoEditingTips #EditDetection #FCPTips #LearnVideoEditing #VideoEditingTutorial #EditingHacks #ColorGrading #VideoEditorLife #WorkflowHacks #VideoPost #TimelineTips #EditorsOfInstagram #CreativeTools #finalcutfast
