BUILDING RESILIENT FARMER-LED FOOD SYSTEMS THROUGH POULTRY FARMING

Over the past five years, the Poultry Project of National Pride in Cambodia (PPNP) has empowered farming communities across Cambodia by strengthening agricultural cooperatives, expanding access to finance, increasing poultry production, and improving market systems. 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🎯 Reach more than 53,350 farming households by June 2026. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗢𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 • Supported 98 Community Agro-Veterinary Entrepreneurs (CAVEs) serving farmers in 14 provinces. • Trained 214 Social Capital Trainers. • Strengthened governance and leadership in 74 cooperatives, including 18 Golden Cooperatives and SEUAC. • Established 1,425 Self-Help Groups (SHGs). 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 • Mobilized US$968,000 in SHG savings and US$771,000 in SHG loans. • Generated US$4.66 million in cooperative savings and US$4.82 million in share capital. • Approved US$8.16 million in member loans and leveraged US$17 million in additional resources. • Built partnerships with microfinance institutions, banks, and impact investors. • Strengthened 18 Golden Cooperatives and SEUAC to deliver quality services and attract investment. 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 • Generated US$5.98 million in household income from poultry enterprises. • Produced 1.84 million eggs, 1.44 million chicks, and 2.42 million chickens. • Earned US$378,000 from egg sales, US$1.38 million from chick production, and US$4.22 million from chicken fattening. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 • Connected farmers with 81 buyers through contract farming. • Established 11 collection centers. • Provided 11 transport vehicles, 33 tuk-tuks, 3 tractors, and 6 cold storage units. • Supported 18 large-scale model chicken enterprises. The achievements have strengthened rural livelihoods, enhanced food security, and created sustainable economic opportunities for thousands of Cambodian farming families.
