Cassette Beasts: 2026 Tournament: Pool 1 - Match 2 Vs Virro

Second Match set of my initial pool Match 1: 0:00 Match 2: 10:31 Admittedly this is less a back and fourth match and more glorified screensaver so instead I will try and explain what exactly is happening here: In essence the strategy used by Virro here is an infinite loop of conductive damage through the use of self hitting revenge strikes. Conductive deals a set percentage of damage when any lightning attack is used on any target and this includes hitting yourself. Doing so bypasses enemy Grounded stickers (which would otherwise make the attacks non elemental and thus not trigger conductive.) conductive damage itself will still be resisted by Grounded but for reason you will see, It hardly matters. Revenge strike has a 50% chance of triggering when any melee attack hits the user and attacks the target back. When hitting yourself with a melee attack (or if the melee attack is reflected by Machine Curse) the following revenge strike will also hit yourself, which then has a chance of triggering another revenge strike and so on so fourth. When under Multitarget the attack will hit both allies which triggers conductive once per beast hit. Mind Melding gives an additional chance for revenge strikes and allows for one attack to be countered twice. Combining Mind Meld and multitarget makes it near impossible for the chain to break before the enemy tapes have been completely chipped down. The win condition is essentially setting up conductive on the opposing team on turn 1 then switching into low melee attack, high bulk lightning beasts loaded with starter moves (custom/Random starter +Roll again) attatched to attacks like Smack and slice to minimise damage and maximise/guarantee trigger chance, and machine curse so that the damage is always reflected back onto themselves so the loop begins and chips opposing tapes down before they can do anything at all. As they are switching in there is little an unprepared opponent can do since switching goes before player attacks and even if you have a switch that can counter the effect switching in is based on the speed of the tapes being swapped out. Simply put I was not even remotely equipped to deal with this and the set was a complete wash.
