Learning Sitar: Significance of Dir-dir work Dr. Ragini Trivedi at Tantricharya
This short clip is from 4th day at Misrabani Tantricharya. Misrabani style involves innovative use of Mizrab strokes to highlight the note-structure and movement of a given Raga. Dr. Ragini Trivedi explains the importance of mastering Mizrab strokes. The first thing to be practiced is continuous rhythmic production of Dir-dir strokes. Once this is achieved, the inclusion of other strokes -- Da, Ra or Da-r -- follows. All these strokes can be combined to create metric pattern or Chhand. Madhukali organized the intense hands-on workshop from 12 to 20th October 2013 at Academic Staff College, B.H.U., Varanasi.
