We are from Constanța and we returned to Mamaia to document, with our own eyes, the transformation of the most famous resort on the Black Sea. Once a symbol of Romanian summers, Mamaia was a luxury resort in the 70s–90s, full of tourists from all over Europe. Today, its image is much different. #romania #mamaia #ordinarextraordinar In this vlog, we travel through the resort from south to north: we start from the Holiday Village, pass through the Hotel Perla and Parc area, eat at a classic self-service and talk about what has been preserved and what has been lost. We stop in the Mamaia Casino area and take the gondola that offers a spectacular view of the cliff and the widened beaches, then continue along the modernized promenade to the Rex and Iaki Hotels. We discuss the beach widening project – what it meant, how much it cost and how it was received by tourists and locals. We see how the resort has been divided between expensive and more affordable areas, which hotels are still operating, which are abandoned, and how the general atmosphere in the resort has changed. We also talk about Mamaia of the past: state beaches, the lack of fences, the braga, the pie oven, foreign tourists and foreign exchange tourism. ✈️ Do you want to support the channel?
