Living In Slovakia Taught Me The UK Has A Trust Problem

When I moved to Slovakia three years ago, I anticipated challenges like language barriers, but I didn't expect the neurological shifts related to my sense of trust and safety. This video explores the profound culture differences between the UK and Slovakia and how living abroad has reshaped my perspective. It's a look into the real experience of expat life and moving abroad, showing how my mentality has changed. I'm only just understanding why something felt different here from day one. It's not just that the crime rate is lower. It's deeper than that, it's baked into how the whole place is built. Public transport that works on an honesty system. Nights out where you don't need to worry. Leaving things unattended and coming back to find everything exactly as you left it. These things sound small. But they're not small at all. Because when a country designs its systems around the assumption that most people will just... do the right thing, that communicates something. And when a country wraps every pub, every train station, and every street corner in cameras, barriers, and signs telling you what you can't do that communicates something too. This is my honest take on trust, safety, and why living in Slovakia made me look at the UK very differently. --- 🔔 New videos every week on expat life, life in Slovakia, and the things nobody warns you about before you move abroad. --- 🎬 More from the channel: ▶ Slovak vs British Culture playlist:    • Slovak vs British Culture 🇸🇰🇬🇧   ▶ The Real Side of Moving Abroad:    • The Real Side of Moving Abroad 💭   ▶ Discover Slovakia:    • Exploring Slovakia 🇸🇰 🗺   Timestamps 00:00 - Social habits from growing up in the UK 01:17 - Public Transport comparisons 02:19 - Nights Out 03:29 - Leaving things unattended 05:23 - Ice Cream Story That Shocked Me 07:31 - How its changed me & which is safer #slovakculture #livingabroad #expatlife #slovakia #uk #lifeabroad #movingabroad #safety
